ARNAV MURALIDHAR AND ANOUSHKA BHATT: KARNATAKA STATE UNDER 09 CHESS CHAMPIONS
Arnav Muralidhar of Bangalore won the Karnataka state under-09 boy’s chess championship scoring 8.5 points out of 9 rounds while Siddarth Bhat from Mangalore securing 7 points to win runner-up trophy.
Anoushka Bhatt of Bangalore won the Karnataka state under-09 girls chess championship scoring 8.5 points from 9 rounds. Mysore girl Dathri umesh of NPS defeated WCM Shefali A N of mandya in the final round to to secure runner-up position with 7.5 points.
The top 2 are selected for the national under-9 chess championship 2016 which is going to be held at Punjab. The top-ten cash and trophy prizes were awarded in each category and also all players were presented with special prizes and certificates for encouragement.
The prizes were given by Mr Vishwanath director of Dasprakash Hotel, Mr Arvind Shastry, Secretary, UKCA, Mr Nagendra Murlidhar Director of Mysore Chess Center, Mr Gavi Siddayya Joint Secretary UKCA, Mrs Madhuri Jain Secretary Mandya District Chess Association.
